TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO, AND WHEN HE IS OLD, HE WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT… by anDorado.

It has always been an activity of the Davao City SDA Elementary school, to conduct every Summer, an annual Medical Mission, with the aim of reaching out and helping those who are in need of medical attention.  Among the services that are given for free are Medical check – up for Adults and pediatrics, Surgical circumcision, Dental (tooth extraction), free medicines and Random Blood Sugar Testing.  The said activity had served a number of patients.   I had been the program coordinator of the said activity for quiet a time now, coordinating with staffs  (nurses and doctors) of the Davao Adventist Hospital, who are much willing to render their services for free and other nurses volunteers who are also active in volunteering for community service.   This is just one of the activities that keeps me busy during summer, and my kids were always with me as I do my responsibilities.  This way, i still can still attend to their needs while  I am coordinating with other agencies, at the same time, I am able to expose them to community service at an early age.

I am just a proud mum and I would like to share these picture with you, guys!

Here, my son at age 14, cleaning the instruments used during the tooth extraction, from 8 am til 12 noontime.  Following the step-by-step instructions given to him to: wash, brush with soap and water, rinse, and dry.  What an accomplishment! :)

Here, my daughter at age 10, helping in dispensing medications to the patients (but not in giving instructions to patients yet- she’s still incapable of doing that though), saw to it that the patients received the complete number of medications prescribed by the doctor.

I am doubly proud of their little accomplishments! :)

I believe that whatever you want your children to become or to indulge in the future, you have to start it at an early age.  Find out what their talents are, what their dreams are and hone them.  This way, they could also become responsible citizens of the community and the country.
